The Cobra XRS R9G has a very good range and detects all 12 radar / laser bands and provides the best possible advance warning for the fastest radar guns. It also comes with a built in GPS allowing you to detect photo enforcement cameras.
This unit has a Intellilink 2.4Ghz Digital Wireless Remote System and Rechargeable Li-ION Battery Pack.
The graphics display will please those who love their gadgets being in full colour however this can prove to be extremely distracting particularly at night. It also has a voice alert and provides a 350 degree detection of laser and radar signals.
On the down side the Cobra XRS R9G really misses some of the features of the Bel GX65 so you are unable to lock out the signal from the automatic door openers that you will more than likely come across travelling to and from work each day. This can be really annoying particularly in city areas.
The unit also has the tendency, with the GPS, of picking up stationary cameras that are not necessarily in your path. These may be in adjoining streets and this can also be rather annoying perhaps lulling you into a false sense of security.
Still the Cobra XRS R9G is a great value for money Radar Detector GPS combination.

We will now look at a custom installed remote radar detector. This Unit has built in GPS as well as radar detection and laser jamming capabilities. It is not cheap and provides vastly superior protection.
This unit also comes with an auto memory system which detects and remembers false alarms. If you drive past the same false alarm 3 times the unit will remember this and will not alert you on the fourth occasion. This is particularly usefull in city areas or for driving past the same locations where you would otherwise contanstly get false alarms.
The Escort Passport 9500ci has a large antenna and twin laser units mounted on the front of the vehicle in the grill area which leads to its superior range and detection abilities.
Although this is a top of the range unit, due to its price, it is usually only found in high end performance vehicles.
If the unit is in your budget then you can relax in the knowledge that you will not be detected either on the highway or city areas.

The XTR-695 has a lot of the features of some of the more expensive radar detectors. It has a very distinctive visual display that can be set in any one of 7 different colours. It also has a filter mode to assist in filtering out other radar detectors allowing you to focus on real Police radar threats.
Adding the Whistler INTELLICORD allows you to remotely adjust a number of settings in your unit. This greatly reduces the need to take your eyes off the road and expose yourself to possible accidents or to miss that Police car hiding off to one side with his radar gun turned off.
The XTR-695 also comes with voice alerts which again allows you to keep your eyes on the road where the threats are coming from.
The Whistler XTR-695 Laser/Radar Detector is a good quality radar detector for those looking for something who have a tighter budget.
